Are you a woman? Know any?

From Michael Rubin, About.com Guide   June 4, 2009

When it comes to retirement planning, most of the rules apply to both men and women equally. That said, certain statistics can lead one to believe that women may have some additional considerations. The mere fact that a woman's life expectancy if longer than a man's means, all else equal, she will need to save more than her male counterpart. Add in the realities of divorce ad short-term absences from employment - which don't hit the genders equally - and you have cause for a special article on women and retirement planning.

But even if you're a guy, you've likely got a wife, a daughter, or a sister. Make sure you understand the implications their gender just might have to their plans for retirement. A little preparation can go a long way.
